Just seen in the Tokyo press - It isn't exactly the most exciting of vegetables, but the humble cabbage has inspired a budding Japanese lingerie designer and won her the chance to showcase her creations on the world stage. Tokyo fashion design student Sachino Kurozu's multi-layered lingerie in a fresh green, inspired by a sprouting cabbage, was picked as this year's winner of a Tokyo lingerie competition organized by underwear manufacturer Triumph, known for its novelty bras featuring unusual designs.
Triumph's most recent promotional offering was a bra with an electronic nuptial clock for husband-hunting women.
Kurozu, 20, said her design was intended to express women's "blooming beauty." She will now go on to compete at a global Triumph contest in Milan later this year.
"The cabbage underwear was so cute. Many designers adapted Japanese themes, but the cabbage one was so unique and catchy," said Haruna Hirasawa, a fashion student at the show.

Sexy lingerie meters away from Syrian mosques
As reported in the 'Russia Today' press - Syria has a conservative Muslim society where many women still wear the hijab, and pre-marital sex is almost unheard of. But since its appearance in the market a decade ago, the demand for sexy lingerie has exploded. Al-Hamidiyeh Souk – a large commercial quarter – stands in the shadow of the most famous mosque of Damascus. Inside you can buy carpets, antiques, water pipes and musical instruments – all of which are traditional market goods.
However, these days something else is drawing in the customers. Most of the regulars are married women, like Shahed, and mothers bolstering their daughters' dowries. "The underwear is very important for my partner, and makes me feel like a woman," Shahed says.
Behind this apparent empowerment is a very traditional impulse.
"When a woman gets married, the groom's mother goes round her house and sees how she cooks, how she cleans, and whether she can please her man – and that's where the lingerie comes in," Hanadi Khateeb, Baladna lifestyle Magazine editor says.
Lingerie designer Ali Nasser crosses comic book Western sexuality with oriental kitsch. Nasser is unlikely to be mistaken for John Galliano, but looks can be deceptive.
"I always have my own ideas. The market moves so fast here, you always have to stay one step ahead," he says.

Lingerie Football League
As reported in the US press yesterday the Lingerie Football League marches on. America's Lingerie Football League is set to expand to a 12 team competition, meaning new players are needed, and as triallists found out the game is not just about frilly knickers and looking pretty - the girls need to be harder than false nails. Pro football does not come easy to the hordes of hotties trying out to be part of the league - the girls learn the hard way, and a broken nail is the least of their worries.
But while they are still trying to master the tackle bags, they have definitely got the bay watch run sorted, which is good, as the founder of the league is clear that physical attractiveness is an attributes the girls are going to need if they are to start racking up the touch downs.
The girls also need to have some athletic experience, and given the skimpy uniforms the shy need not apply.
But just because they will be strutting their stuff wearing only their smalls, don't think that the girls are just eye candy – they say they are as tough as the guys, just in their underwear.
The season kicks off in September with the league promising entertainment that is unlikely to fall flat.

Jenna The Latest fan of PETA
Adult movie superstar Jenna Jameson is best known for hard-core pornography but her latest sexy lingerie pose is for a good cause - animal rights. Using her sinful reputation for saintly ends, Jameson has joined forces with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), in a new campaign promoting the use of synthetic leather alternative, Pleather. The "Pleather Yourself" promotional poster features a retro-look Jameson in a black wig and skimpy Pleather-made lingerie evoking 1950s S&M pin-up girl Betty Paige.
But Jameson is no fetishist when it comes to the animal welfare movement - she has embraced "SINthetic" leather wholeheartedly saying, "I live half my life in Pleather ... it is so fun and sexy"
The star says she was converted to the animal rights cause by Joaquin Phoenix's animal husbandry documentary expose, Earthlings.
"I watched Earthlings and I was so shocked. I turned to my best friend and said, 'I think my life just got changed.' A week later I was talking to PETA. "It's okay to be an animal in bed but not at the expense of real animals. If I can show off the hot look of Pleather and convert a few leather lovers, then mission accomplished."

Sexy Lingerie Tops FHM Worlds Sexiest Woman
Cheryl Cole has been named the world’s sexiest woman. The Girls Aloud star often seen dancing on stage in sexy lingerie topped the poll conducted by FHM magazine – knocked 2008 winner Megan Fox off the top spot and into second place in this year’s vote. The British singer – who last year came seventh in the annual poll – beat a host of beauties, including actress Jessica Alba, who came third, and pop singer Britney Spears to take the title. This is the first time in three years a British star has come first in the poll, which was undertaken by almost 10 million readers of the men’s magazine worldwide.
