The ultimate sexy lingerie bling bikini was unveiled today for beach bums with £2,000 to spend. Designer Pistol Panties created a Swarovski crystal-coated 'Bling-kini' which goes on sale at Selfridges on Wednesday next week - a snip at £100 per square centimetre. Store spokeswoman Lucy Gillis said they were taking advanced orders for the suit from today. Pistol Panties boasts a celebrity clientele which includes Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Selfridges expected people to clamour to buy the colourful bikini named Anita, despite the cost.
Ms Gillis said: "People look to Selfridges for something different and that is what we are providing. "It is no longer enough to have something that everyone else has, people want something that is limited-edition and special."
Selfridges swimwear buyer Helen Attwood said: "Swimwear is summer's ultimate style statement. "Whether destined for St Tropez or South End, I hope 'Anita' will provide our customers with the ultimate poser appeal this summer." The store has set up a waiting list for the bright bikini and customers will be able to buy the swimwear next Wednesday.
